Kyle XY Ep 105 Review

About
This Is Not A Test
Nicole is planning to enjoy a quiet afternoon in the house alone with Stephen, but suddenly, she hears an upstairs window break. Tom Foss, the mystery man, has broken in and planted bugs throughout the Trager house.

The Good?
Matt Dallas is still a genius. I loved his awkward walking back and forth after the bell rang, and him trying to analyze how/why the students formed the friendships they did.

Kyle's friendship with Deichman was great, I hope they bring him back sometime. Kyle the superhero :D

Foss beings all creepy-stalkery...

Damn Kyle reads quickly - if only I could read at half that speed! And Kyle sticking up for Josh - such a sweetie!

Trust Kyle to go to school to study his fellow humans! "Why do people do what they do?" Damn good question, that!

The Bad?
I highly doubt a high school would be so harsh on a new student, especially one with amnesia. Who on earth would expect someone who can't even remember their own past to remember the history of the world!? Besides, shouldn't him going to the library in between be considered cheating?

The Ugly?

Unanswered Questions/Speculation

Overall
A really good episode, with some really good interactions between the main cast members.

Kyle XY Ep 104 Review

About
Diving In
Kyle has his first dream, in which he is underwater in a pool with Amanda swimming towards him.

The Good?
Aww, you've really gotta feel for poor Kyle - it's hard enough fitting in without having that happen in public.

Grapefruit, lol. That word will now have whole new meaning for me.

The scene with Kyle and Amanda at the piano was beautifully done. Hilary all over Kyle at the party was cute (on Kyle's part).

Poor Lori & Declan - they just can't seem to get things right!

The scene at the very end is probably my favourite scene so far - so beautifully done, and the music fit really well.

The Bad?
Not much except that it was a bit slow moving.

The Ugly?
Ashleigh really weirded me out.

Overall
Another good episode, really developed Kyle's personality a bit more as well as the mystery surrounding Foss.

Heartbreak Kid film review

About
Ben Stiller, Malin Ackerman, Michelle Monaghan
A newlywed man who believes he's just gotten hitched to the perfect woman encounters another lady on his honeymoon.

The Good?
Very, very little. But I guess the beginning was okay.

The Bad?
The majority of the film - it seemed to get progressively worse as time went by.

The only funny bits weren't funny because they were on the trailer. Not to mention that Eddie was a fucking psycho! Who the hell would give a guy who breaks into your bedroom while you're sleeping with your husband a second chance!? Seriously! And the ending was just ridiculous!

The Ugly?
The scene where she pees on him. We did not need to see THAT!

Overall
Apparently people walked out of this film halfway through and asked for their money back. Good on them! I would have done the same except I get in for free. Lol.

Seriously, don't go see this film unless you have a seriously crude and twisted sense of humor.

Kyle XY Ep 103 Review

About
The Lies That Bind
Police discover a skeleton in the woods near the spot where Kyle originally appeared.

The Good?
"I'm a temp too." Gotta love Kyle's logic.

Return of the Sour Patch Kids!

I love that every time Kyle is alone he manages to get into mischief. The whole scene where Kyle jumps off the roof and Amanda's crash was great.

Kyle getting confused at Lori's rant about men who lie was fantastic. So was Kyle's inability to lie.

The Bad?
A bit of a filler episode, it didn't really seem to go anywhere.

Some aspects of Kyle's personality seem a bit off, like him locking the bathroom door is a bit weird.

The Ugly?
The dead body found - eew! I mean, dead bodies aren't normally so bad, but if it's had its flesh deteriorated away!?

Speculation/Unanswered Questions
Still feeling dodgy about Kyle's sleep habits. Now he's sleeping abnormally excessive amounts?

Overall
Like I said before, a bit of a filler episode and not really much to comment on overall.

Kyle XY Ep 102 Review

About
Sleepless in Seattle
Kyle encounters the concept of time and wonders why those around him focus on it. Kyle ponders as to why people sleep.

The Good?
Kyle's exploration of the fridge was funny. I liked the subtle touch of Kyle trying to eat the banana skin, then later noticing Josh peeling one. And I really have to try Sour Patch Kids sometime. I loved Kyle's thoughts on the concept of abstract ideas like time, stress and sarcasm.

Again, the little touches in Matt Dallas's acting is really showing. Kyle trying to look into the doctor's mouth, Kyle being fascinated by the kettle boiling, Kyle frolicking in the bath, then sleeping in the bath.

The Bad?
A few possible continuity errors, such as Kyle taking the pill from Nicole, then not understanding that he has to swallow it. Then, when he does swallow it, he takes it with the water like you normally do. One who didn't know better would probably just swallow it.

The Ugly?
Kyle after his midnight snack.

Speculation/Unanswered questions
How is it that Kyle can go a week without sleeping, yet still does sleep? I was thinking originally that because his brain activity is so high that he didn't have the ability to sleep. But it's more like he doesn't need to sleep. How did the sleeping pills have no effect at all on him?

Overall
A bit of a filler episode, mostly building up on Kyle and his personality with a little bit of focus on the overall mystery.

Kyle XY Ep 101 Review

About
Pilot
A mysterious teenager with no belly button and no memory of his life up until that point, wakes up in a forest outside Seattle, Washington, naked and covered in a slimy pink substance.

The Good?
Matt Dallas is a genius. The way he plays Kyle is flawless. The way he can portray almost what Kyle was thinking just using his face is fantastic. They did a great job casting him. Kyle's imitation of Nicole's gasp is hilarious. Kyle listening to Amanda play was cute. But the best scene of the episode: "Yo! Let's get some juice down here." I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I loved Kyle thinking that the party/being drunk was hell. Kyle kicking the cop's arse is awesome. Kyle and Nicole's conversation at the end was just heartbreaking. And then the families acceptance of Kyle at the end, awwwww...

The Bad?
I'm not too sure about the voice overs for the time being. While they are helpful for explaining Kyle's thoughts, some aren't necessary. And once Kyle knows how to talk, they really won't be necessary at all...

The Ugly?
Nothing struck me as being particularly horrible.

Speculation
I have seen all of season one, and bits and pieces of season two, so I know some of what is going to happen.

There's still the question of the who the girl on the news was (at around 14mins the news is showing a girl who washed up on shore with no memory of how she got there. Sound familiar much?)

Overall
I really liked this episode, there are a lot of memorable moments and a really good way to start off the show. I think I'm definitely going to enjoy this show!

Confession Time!

I have a confession to make.

I'm addicted to playing bunco online.

Lol, seriously! This game is so addictive! The weirdest part about this game is that there is absolutely no skill involved, it is 100% luck. And yet it's just so darn addictive!

I love the fact that everyone is so friendly with each other - most people play for fun and not for points, which gives it all a really nice atmosphere.

Each game is quite long, but it's a great way to kill time.

If you want to find out more, check out this website, or play here (my username is Steph at the second link).

Fred Klaus film review

Note: The following post contains spoilers for the film Fred Klaus

About
Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti
Fred Claus, Santa's bitter older brother, is forced to move to the North Pole.

The Good?
I really liked the idea that even the "naughty" children deserved a gift at Christmas time. I mean, their just kids for crying out loud.

The Siblings Anonymous scene was just genius, I want to know how many of them are actual siblings of celebrities (I know the three with speaking parts were, but some of the others in the group looked awfully familiar...).

The Bad?
Unfortunately, most of the movie was a bit of a letdown. I really was expecting it to be much funnier than it was, and it was far more cheesier than I thought it was gonna be. I hate to say it since I'm a fan of his, but Vince Vaughn was pretty average in this film. He's much better in comedy films.

And as usual, the majority of the funniest bits were shown on the trailer.

The Ugly?
As my mum said, Paul Giamatti makes one ugly Santa Claus... Oh, and the mother really pissed me off too - what a bitch!

Overall
Probably a good film if you're with children, but really not worth seeing if you're not. The kind of film you should see only if you've got nothing better to do.

Fuck it

My life is a treadmill.

Everytime I try and move forward with my life, something (being my mum, my sister, my dad or my own damn insecurities) starts pulling me backwards.

I just wish the world would let me move on already. I'm not a bad person - its the least I deserve.

Update

Last exam today. Yay! Means I finally have time to start putting this blog together.

Still not entirely sure what I'm going to be putting up here, but I have a lot of ideas that I hopefully will have time to work on. For the time being though I think this is mainly going to be a book/movie review blog with the occasional personal post thrown in.

So yeah, that's it for now. After today I should hopefully be updating on a regular basis. So keep an eye out!
