Celebrity Webcasters

Lately I've noticed that a lot of young celebrities have been starting to make their own webcasts on youtube. Here's the usernames of all the famous people I've found:

KatDennings - One of my favourite actresses, Kat Dennings
SandCastleinc - Erin Sanders from Zoey 101
mileymandy - Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana
therealdemilovato - Selena Gomez from Wizards of Waverly Place, and Demi Lovato, another up and coming actress.
JonasBrothersMusic - The Jonas Brothers band. Not so much a webcast, but the boys do post videos of themselves often.
Edit: adding AshleyTisdale to the list. If you don't know who she is, get out from under the rock you've been living in.

Who'd have though that despite having what I'm sure are very busy lives, they still have time to take a break and act like normal kids!?

Vantage Point Review

+about. With a Rashomon narrative style, the attempted assassination of the president is told from several different perspectives. imdb//official//trailer

+my opinion. While the majority of this film was brilliantly done, the ending was really disappointing to me. The ending just lost focus of the whole idea of 8 different vantage points, and kinda waffled off your average action-packed, car-chase ending. The explanation for the shooting was a little bit too obvious and I was a bit disappointed in that too, to be honest. I am really proud of myself for figuring out a major twist to do with Matthew Fox's character (hopefully won't spoil it for anyone), however.

+recommendation. Probably worth watching if you've got some spare time on your hands, but don't put your expectations too high.

+quote of the movie. Can't really think of any, and nothing on imdb is good enough. So none!

Step Up 2 The Streets Review

+about. Romantic sparks occur between two dance students from different backgrounds at the Maryland School of the Arts. imdb//trailer

+my opinion. I quite enjoyed the film, even if the dancing wasn't quite as entertaining as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, the dancing was amazing, it just isn't the type of dancing I enjoy watching so much. I hadn't seen the original before I went to see the movie, but watched it shortly afterwards and definitely think that the first is my favourite, because the dancing is more to my taste. Although the opening scene of Step Up 2 was brilliantly done. But I digress. I thought the storyline was really sweet, and I enjoyed all the different characters coming together to form their own crew. I really liked Tyler's cameo from the first film, too.

+recommendation. A very fun and entertaining film, definitely worth seeing if you're interested.

+quote of the movie.
Chase: You're an amazing little dancer, you know that right?
Andie: Little?

The Other Boleyn Girl Review

+about. Two sisters contend for the affection of King Henry VIII. imdb//trailer//official

+my opinion. Quite a disturbing plotline, but pulled off really well nevertheless. Even sadder to think its all based on a true story. Natalie Portman was absolutely amazing. I think it was a little too targeted at history buffs, as I was a little lost throughout parts of the film - it wasn't always explained the clearest. I liked the ending though, with the introduction of Queen Elizabeth, even if I didn't entirely understand it (why she got to be Queen).

+recommendation. Definitely more for people interested in history.

+quote of the movie. "Our daughters are being traded like cattle for the advancement of men." - Lady Elizabeth.

Food For Thought

I'm trying to clear out my Bookmarks, so thought I would post a couple of interesting articles that had been collecting dust in my folder.

Sewer Walking

My favourite poem from the television show Joan of Arcadia

Sewer Walking
You and me,
we used to talk
Like a river underground,
the sewer where we used to walk.
The hole at the end
empties out to the pier
Where paperboats disappear
Me, I try to send this note,
Float it like a paper boat,
But paper sinks and words are weak.
I try but I don’t speak
Join together in the silent snow
Turn our faces up to see
Not endless night,
but day
A pier,
And you and me,
talking…

Defense

+about. A multi-fandom video to the song Defense by Bliss 66.

+couples used. Josh and Andy (Jandy) from Kyle XY, Logan and Veronica (LoVe) from Veronica Mars, Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter, Amy and Felix from I Dream.

+inspiration. I really like this song, and was sad to see that there were no fanvideos on youtube using this song. So I just had to to a multi-fandom video for it! Cookies for those who noticed that I went through a certain pattern in which fandom I used for each line in the song. I also gave the couples a "You are my defense line" each.

+my favourite bit. The beginning and end (with clips of all four couples at once). I worked SO hard on this, and think it looks really cool. It's a little glitchy at one point because of different clip sizes, but I don't think it will be too noticeable on tiny youtube screens xD

Over My Head (Cable Car)

+about. A Troy Bolten fan video to the song Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray. Relationships represented include Troyella, Troypay, Ryella.

+inspiration. This is one of my all-time favourite songs, and I think it fits Troy's character so well. This is my favourite of all the video's I've made so far - I think it's really well timed and all the clips match the lyrics so well. I guess it kind of has a story to it, but I won't bother explaining it because it's pretty self-explanatory.

+my favourite bit. The lines "And suddenly/I've become a part of your past/I'm becoming a part that don't last."

I Believe In A Thing Called Love

+about. A Kat/Patrick (from 10 things I hate about you) to the song I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness.

+inspiration. This song has ALWAYS made me thing of this couple, and it's such an awesome song that I couldn't resist finally making this video. I wanted to cover both the ups and the downs of the relationship, but at the same time tried my best to match the lyrics. And I love the pink/white/black combo in the border!

+my favourite bit. Probably the whole thing! But if I had to choose... I think the lines "You got me in a spin/But everything is aye-okay."

10 Things I Hate About You Poem

+about. Scenes from the movie '10 things I hate about you' with audio of the poem written by Julia Stiles' character.

+inspiration. I always thought that this would be a cute idea and wondered why noone else had done it before, and it wasn't until I sat down and tried it that I released it was going to be harder than it looked. It didn't turn out quite as well as I wanted it to, mostly because a few of the lines where hard to put parts of the movie to. Also, the audio and video of her reciting the poem aren't synced for some reason, and there's a few bad editing moments xD

+my favourite bit. "I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry."

Jumper Review

+about. A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between "Jumpers" and those who have sworn to kill them. imdb//official//trailer

+my opinion. This was a weird movie. The trailer looked amazing, but it was actually a pretty bad movie. It had its good points, such as the effects, but overall it didn't really have a convincing plot to me. There were a lot of unexplained moments, like how both the police and the bad guys (can't remember the name for the life of me) tracked down David in the first place. And considering it has quite a long list of my favourite actors (Jamie Bell, Kristen Stewart, Rachel Bilson and more), it was quite disappointing.

+recommendation. I'm probably just sour because of the mean ticket seller, but I wouldn't really recommend seeing this movie. There have been, and will be better action/sci-fi movies this year.

+quote of the movie. "Thank you very much! Next showing will be scheduled on six o'clock. Don't forget to tip your guide!" -- David to the Colosseum statues.

Say Ok

video coming soon

+about. A Jake/Addie video to the song Say Ok by Vanessa Hudgens.

+inspiration. I have a huge soft spot for this show, and especially for this couple. This song is so sweet, and I really think it suits them. I tried to match the clips to the lyrics the best I could, and I think it worked out pretty well.

+my favourite bit. Ooh that's tough. Maybe the end?

+clips from. Fabulous Emma - a fantastic website for all things Emma Roberts

P.S. I Love You Review

+about. A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. imdb//trailer//official

+my opinion. This was a really original idea, but I'm not too sure if I enjoyed it as much as I could have. The film focused more on areas that I didn't expect it to. There were some scenes that dragged on for WAY too long (such as the opening scene and flashbacking to when they first met) as they just took away from the movie itself. I also expected to learn a little more about his illness (or even just flashback to him in hospital) as his death felt so sudden (even though you knew it was coming).

+recommendation. Still a cute film with a tear jerking (but still very sweet) ending. Probably a movie for a woman to take her girlies too.

+quote of the movie.
Daniel:
What do women want?
Holly: [whispering] We have no idea what we want.
